In Wokingham this morning the REME Band gave a Christmas concert, along with the Arborfield branch of the Military Wives Choir. This was a free concert in the splendid surroundings of Wokingham Town Hall, with voluntary donations to the Mayor’s charity, which is the Wokingham Scouts and Guides.
The bandmaster led the choir along with the packed audience in a festive hour of carols and other tunes. From "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" to "Jingle Bells" there was something for everyone. A saxophone quartet played Wizzard’s "I wish it could be Christmas everyday", along with the choir performing their first ever gig by singing "Walking in the air (theme from ‘the snowman’)" beautifully. We were thoroughly entertained.
