At the organ gala at the Royal Albert Hall, Wayne and I had excellent seats for viewing the orchestra and organ. The performance started with a loud fanfare from the Fanfare Trumpeters of the Scots Guards. Then the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra joined them in playing the theme music from 2001 a Space Odyssey. When it was the organ’s turn to play the deep bass notes rumbled through my chest.
They played a number of organ and trumpet pieces including the Saint-Saëns organ Symphony No. 3. The whole performance was topped off with Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1.
