Helps Save Lives

I went to a talk given by one of the local Community First Responders. Who are they you may well ask? Well if you make a ‘999’ call for an ambulance, and the nearest one is too far away to get to you quickly enough, then the control room will dispatch both a Community First Responder and the ambulance.
The Community First Responders are a group of volunteers who are trained to administer vital first aid until the ambulance arrives. They have been issued with a range of equipment including a defibrillator.
He gave a demonstration of how to deal with cuts, and choking, as well as the recovery position, on a "willing" volunteer. He also told us about some of the call outs that he has had to deal with and demonstrated the defibrillator. His talk was also supported with videos.cfr@scas.nhs.uk
