Holiday Day 7 – Acorn Bank

Today we went to the Chocolate Factory for a final visit before leaving for home. Grandma said that it was to get a last few holiday treats for friends and family, but I think it was for the hot toasted teacake with the homemade strawberry jam, finished with the complimentary chocolate thins. Of course we couldn’t resist visiting the shop again.
Then we went to Acorn Bank, a National Trust property. It has a water mill which has been restored but was not working while we were there. There was a walled garden with lots of flowers, and a herb garden with every herb that you could imagine. There was also a large Dovecote that was being used as a library. In here there was an art installation which consisted of a large tree?
We went for a walk in the woodland where there were woollen figures and fruits hanging from the trees. Close to the house there was a small fountain with a lily pond.Click the flowers to see some more pictures.www.nationaltrust.org.uk/acorn-bankWhen we came back to the cottage we had a delicious tea of baked potato with chicken tikka masala. Tomorrow we plan to go home.
We have had a very busy holiday and have seen lots of things. I enjoyed the boat trip and the train ride the most of all.
