Rock out in style

On Friday evening I was invited by Martin, the Wokingham Town Mayor, to a concert to mark the end of his mayoral year. On arrival I was welcomed by Nikki, the Mayor’s secretary, and Martin. I then made my way to share a table which was already occupied by some lovely ladies, one of whom I had met previously at Bearwood Christmas Fair, and who follows my blog The event was attended by many high ranking people such as councillors and other local mayors, who were all wearing their chains of office. There were also members from local groups and charities present. After a slight delay, due to technical difficulties, the Wokingham Town Crier introduced Martin who gave a short speech and gave a thank you presentation to the Mini-Mayor, Joe. Then proceedings got underway and the REME Rock and Pop Band performed a number of pieces including both ‘Country’ and ‘Western’. Some people got up to dance to the music. There was a short interval in which I enjoyed a basket of sausage and chips, and the raffle was drawn. After the interval the pace was stepped up a bit with much more Rock and Pop music. Finally, Martin, thanked everyone for coming, and with one last number the concert finished.I have met Martin several times at events, held in the Wokingham Town Hall, over the last two years while he has been Mayor. As his final term as Mayor comes to an end I wish him well for the future.www.wokingham-tc.gov.uk
