In Forbury Gardens, Reading, last weekend I went to the Reading Bastille Day celebrations. To mark the tragic events in Nice during the week there was a minutes silence in solidarity for the French.
There were stalls brimming with different foods and wine to buy, and the whole atmosphere was enhanced by French music, singers, and dancers. We were encouraged to learn some simple French phrases such as “Je suis Simon” and so on.
I chose the most French looking food stall and enjoyed an egg, ham, and cheese Galette, followed by a butter and sugar Crepe. C’est très bien.
The whole event was free and access to Forbury Gardens is flat if you use the gate down the side. A very relaying day in glorious sunshine.
