To celebrate the start of the Chinese year of the dog there was a spectacle advertised taking place in Maidenhead. From the Boy and Boat statue, the Eagle Claw Kung Fu School, paraded through the street in a riot of colour to bursts of fire crackers, and the beat of a loud Tanggu drum. The large dragons, lions, and dogs, danced to the beat as flag bearers waved their colourful banners.
Parking in Maidenhead is good, and access is generally flat. However, the parade was not cordoned off and so there was no crowd control and people kept getting in my view. I thoroughly enjoyed this free event as something to do on a cold February day.
