The Wokingham Half Marathon which I marshal and provide radio communication for was being run by a full field of 2400 people this weekend. Arriving at my checkpoint which is about 8.5 miles from the start it was bright and sunny and surprisingly warm. However it soon clouded over and the thermals leggings I was wearing came in handy to keep the cold out.
All the runners were in good spirits and running a fast pace. Apart from the usual race reports of the first men and women to run past me there was little else to radio about. But I do not mind that as I enjoy being outside and watching the race while listening to the other radio operators. In any case if there is more to radio about it would mean that we are dealing with a medical emergency.
