A Thursday treat

Today we found a little advertised gem at The Garrison Church of St Eligius, Arborfield.Piano duo Margaret Bolt and Dinah Dawkins, two very accomplished pianists, played a selection of numbers in the beautiful surroundings of St Eligius to a packed audience. The programme consisted of a Latin suite composed by Mike Cornick , the Mother Goose suite by Maurice Ravel, plus further music by Jerome Kern and Arthur Benjamin. During the playing of the well known tunes "The way you look tonight" and "Smoke gets in your eyes" the audience were encouraged to sing along. The whole programme was cleverly put together with something for all musical tastes.Afterwards the church members provided a buffet lunch which perfectly ended a lovely entertaining afternoon. We were overwhelmed with the warm and friendly welcome that we received.Wheelchair access was good and I had a perfect view.Further concerts take place on the third Thursday of the month.
