Last Sunday I went to an open air performance of My Friend Peter in one of the local parks. This was a performance by a touring theatre company to celebrate 100 years since Beatrix Potter wrote her famous tales about small animals.
The small cast of five performers took on the roles of the animal creatures as well as Beatrix and her family demonstrating each character by the way that they moved their bodies and their simple costumes. The cast also provided music on guitars and mandolin while singing simple songs to help tell the story.
I had a good spot sitting in the front row was able to enjoy the performance in the sunshine.
Howard Palmer Gardens is flat and easily accessible from the car park behind the Denmark street shops. This was a Wokingham Town Council event and entry, or rather exit from the performance was by donation to local charities.
