As part of the newly formed Reading on Thames Festival, which aims to celebrate everything about rivers and the Thames in particular, I went to Reading Museum to see Liquid History perform. Their performance took the form of an opera telling the story of how people worked on, and alongside, the Thames from the early beginnings to today.
Using minimal props, they were dressed in navy blue with white and blue faces to represent the river. They made noises and movement to replicate the water while singing the different stages of the story.
There were lots of events in and around Reading most of them were FREE to attend. Access to the museum is good and I used the park and ride to get into town. The festival funding has been secured for another three more years so I hope to find similar events to go to in the future.
