I went to join the local community gathering for Remembrance Day in Howard Palmer Gardens. The benches had been tastefully decorated with crocheted poppies and there was a small memorial garden with crosses for the fallen from Wokingham.
Just before eleven o’clock there was a reading of “For the Fallen” the poem by Robert Laurence Binyon, and as this ended the two-minute silence for reflection started. In the distance we could hear the gun salute from the Sandhurst Military Academy. To end the tribute a solo bugler sounded the last post.Afterwards there was time for a chat with the other people there before going our separate ways.
