Last week on BBC Radio Berkshire there was a request for people to book onto sessions to make paper bunting to hang at the coming Royal wedding between Harry and Meghan. As these sessions were to be held at the Rising Sun Arts Centre in Reading, I thought that it might be fun to go along and make a piece of history. It was expected that it would be busy and advanced booking was advised, this also gave me the chance to ask about the access as the Rising Sun is an old building on several floors.
When I arrived, there were a few people already making their piece of bunting. I was given a large triangle of paper and a selection of felt tip pens. There was also paints available. Wayne helped write some large lettering. Then I drew a silhouette of Harry and added a gold crown to show his royalty.
There was a small team of people from BBC Radio Berks. who were helping organise everyone, and a reporter wandering around talking to everyone. My ‘interview’ might be on the Andrew Peach show on the morning of the wedding, if it makes the final cut ?
We were able to park in the Rising Sun car park and access was OK, but you need to check as they do not have a lift, and some of their meeting rooms are on the upper floors. I really enjoyed playing my part and it was a free and fun morning.
